Shanea Savours: Bachour Bakery and Bistro
We were ecstatic to drive by 600 Brickell and notice that Bachour Bakery and Bistro looked open. Antonio Bachour, James Beard award nominee and one of the city’s most acclaimed pastry chefs (from Bal Harbour St. Regis) has teamed up with Henry Hare, the former chef of Eating House (a favourite restaurant of mine) to launch this delicious new spot. One of the perks of my job is having a little extra pull. Chef Antonio came outside to greet us and warmly invited us inside. He was in the middle of a friends and family day. He gave us a tour, introduced us to Chef Hare and gave me some history and background on his illustrious career. He learned his craft in France and Spain, and let me tell you, it shows. Miami has never had a pastry shop of this caliber.
The contemporary-styled bakery will be serving things like macaroons, French pastries, marshmallows, gorgeous chocolates, breads, brioche, yoghurt bowls, croissants and fruit tarts. There will also be savoury dishes from Chef Hare, like open-faced sandwiches, grain salads, eggs, homemade soups and salads. Initially, it will be open for breakfast and lunch, but Chef Bachour assures me it should be open in about six months time for dinner.
There will be table service and take-out.
I always felt that Miami lacked a place for beautiful pastries, but now they will have one. Brickell residents you are so lucky. Me, I will have to make a special trip. Highly recommend and happily eating my take home gift!
Happy Dining, Shanea
I may not be a professional writer, but I consider myself a professional eater. I love to eat, read about food, travel, shop, take in the arts, and explore new places. Focusing mostly on Toronto, my home base, Miami, my second home and New York and Italy where I travel to the most, while also featuring other places I’m fortunate enough to visit, I’ll share with you my most savoury tidbits along the way. Happy Dining!
