Shanea Savours: Dizengoff
Wynwood's New Hummus Restaurant
James Beard award winner Michael Solomonov’s much anticipated and lauded hummus restaurant has come to Miami’s hippest neighborhood, Wynwood, at 250 N.W. 24th Street. He initially opened in Philly in 2014. Solomonov also has a busy location that I have previously written about in New York in the Chelsea Market.
So I wont go into full detail here, except to mention that this new Wynwood location has limited seating as well as take out. They have a lot of options for vegans and vegetarians, although there are some meat dishes as well. The light-as-air pitas are still baked up fresh in a hearth. Their freshly made hummus and tahini are creamy and dreamy. There are a number of rotating and seasonal garnishes, plus chopped Israeli salad, and local and craft beers to wash it all down.
The space is bright and airy with colorful tiled walls, a bright pink neon menu board, and floor-to-ceiling windows. There is a young and friendly staff to serve you. I liked how they use Philadelphia baseball cards for their food pick up numbering system.
Dizengoff adds a great shakshuka on Sundays only, a dish of eggs baked in a spicy tomato and pepper stew. They also brought their delicious frozen lemon and mint drink to Wynwood. If you are still hungry for something sweet, you can go to Federals Donuts next door, which they own as well.
So glad to see Wynwood is serving elevated food at affordable prices.
Recommended and lchaim.
I may not be a professional writer, but I consider myself a professional eater. I love to eat, read about food, travel, shop, take in the arts, and explore new places. Focusing mostly on Toronto, my home base, Miami, my second home and New York and Italy where I travel to the most, while also featuring other places I’m fortunate enough to visit, I’ll share with you my most savoury tidbits along the way. Happy Dining!
