There are Galas—and there are GALAS: The “Gala Season” in Miami for 2014-2015 has turned out to be one decadent party celebration after another. (no complaints here). But none proved itself to be more elegant in the inspiration of black tie dressing than The Arsht Center’s Gala featuring the iconic maestro himself, Barry Manilow.
It was a night to remember (of course, it would be Miami’s answer to the Met Ball). “In what has become an annual tradition to welcome world-class talent to the Arsht Center’s state- of-the-art stages for our Anniversary Gala, guests this year enjoyed and danced to! a blockbuster performance by the legendary Barry Manilow,” said Swanee DiMare, chair of the Gala for the third year in a row along with her husband Paul DiMare. “As an avid supporter of arts education, Mr. Manilow was the perfect choice to grace the stage, as all the money raised by the Gala will be reinvested into the Arsht Center’s robust educational programming.” Philanthropy and style-perfect match! In fashion-speak, it was an evening of cascading trains, extravagant sophistication, luxury and legacy.
A Gala can also be an intimate affair, as in the soiree for Beth David Congregation honoring Rabbi Julie Jacobs shown below.
