SOCIALEYES: Young Business Leader Awards
Johnnie Walker, Brett Graff and SocialMiami Honor Miami’s Rising Stars
Miami businesses have a close eye on the current state of affairs – the city does after all have a great view of several continents. But for a glimpse of the future, Johnnie Walker, Brett Graff and SocialMiami.com set out to find the young leaders destined to shape our community in the decades to come.
We selected just five professionals: Cuban youth advocate Felice Gorordo, medical technology wiz René van Weenen, environmental engineer Michael Laas, executive search consultant Juan Luis Betancourt, city beautifier Christian Infante, and honored each of them with the most esteemed of business gifts: a personally engraved bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label.
KaufmanFranco at Saks
Famed designers Ken Kaufman and Isaac Franco, the talented duo behind the exclusive KAUFMANFRANCO label, made a special appearance at Saks Fifth Avenue Bal Harbour to unveil their newest collection. Dubbed The New Sensualists of fashion, their designs are red carpet staples for celebrities, including Halle Berry, Eva Longoria, Jennifer Lopez, and Taylor Swift.
Philanthropy Is Beautiful
So, it was natural for former Wall Street guru turned jewelry designer, Joan Hornig, to lead by example when it came to the profits earned from her collection. A former fundraiser from Harvard who spent two decades in the financial world, Hornig, 55, has designed stunning pieces in 18-karat gold, sterling silver and various precious stones, under the trademark Philanthropy Is Beautiful, since 2003. Prices range from $500 to $16,600, and 100 percent of her profits go to various charities.
