TOUR DE MUSIQUE

The Alhambra Orchestra will present a special Mother’s Day concert entitled Tour de Musique. This concert concludes Alhambra Orchestra’s 25th anniversary season with a program that spans the European contient and ends in America, traversing four centuries along the way. Miami’s community orchestra will perform Tchaikovsky’s “Second Symphony,” built on Russian folk themes, as the featured major work. Flute soloist Carol Naveira-Nicholson, a longtime member of the Miami Symphony and Alhambra Orchestra, will perform Bach’s “Orchestral Suite No. 2 in B minor.” The wind section will perform English composer Gustav Holst’s “Suite No. 1,” and also on the program is an original piece by local clarinetist and composer Javier Albornoz, a masters’ degree student at the University of Miami. Admision is free, and the school offers free parking.
