A Day at the Sony Ericsson Open
The 2011 Sony Ericsson Open was one of the best Opens ever on Key Biscayne concluding with an epic men’s final between the world’s greatest players, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.
The tennis filled two weeks featured many exciting events and SocialMiami was fortunate to spend a day with Bombay Sapphire, a sponsor of the Sony Ericsson Open. From the Bombay Lounge where our own Sarah Arison emceed a mix-off that pitted the men’s doubles team of Robert Lindstedt and Horia Tecau against each other while celebrity judge Cristi Rice sampled their Bombay Sapphire inspired concoctions, to the stadium court suite for a chic nighttime session, SocialMiami was there one cocktail at a time.
Living up to its name, “The Glam Slam,” the Sony Ericsson Open was a true attraction for local and international celebrities. Spotted from the stands throughout the two-week tournament were the “Big Three” – Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh; Vogue editor Anna Wintour; Reggie Bush of the New Orleans Saints; actress Camilla Belle; actor Andy Garcia; fashion model Brooklyn Decker; Grammy winner Brandy; five-time Olympic swimmer, Dara Torres; Latin pop singers Chayanne and Alejandro Sanz; former professional Argentine tennis player Gabriela Sabatini; English pop star, Sir Cliff Richard; Channing Crowder of the Miami Dolphins; the NHL’s Ottawa Senators; Colombian NASCAR driver, Juan Pablo Montoya; golfers Sergio Garcia and Greg Norman; Indy car driver Bruno Junquiera and Helio Castroneves; and Tony-nominated actress Orfehare just a few of the many celebrities that have enjoyed the Sony Ericsson Open.
