Over 350 patrons came together for an evening of art, performance, and fashion at the Bass Museum of Art’s gala The Bass Ball and after-party keep The Ball rolling. . . Presented by the luxury Italian shoe, bag and accessories brand TOD’S and sponsored by Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate, The Bass Ball raised funds for the museum’s exhibitions and education programs.

Museum leaders used the occasion to announce that the Bass was the recent recipient of three major gifts totaling over $2 million for the museum’s endowment. Ambassador Paul and Mrs. Trudy Cejas and Bass Museum Board President George Lindemann each donated $1 million. Silvia Karman Cubiñá, Executive Director and Chief Curator, said that an anonymous donor made an additional major gift of an undisclosed amount.

The co-chairs of The Bass Ball, Criselda Breene, Diane Lieberman, Soledad Pićon, Tui Pranich and Inés Rivero, set a creative and fashionable tone for the night. Many patrons embraced the “Whimsical” theme of the evening by dressing in colorful gowns and inventive hats and headdresses. Prizes of customized terrariums from Plant The Future were awarded to those with the best interpretation of the theme.

South African performance artist Athi-Patra Ruga mesmerized partygoers with the premiere of a new work in which dancers covered in balloons portrayed a new humanity.

Throughout the night, guests enjoyed cocktails by Tito’s Handmade Vodka, wines by Chateau D’ESCLANS and a delicious menu by Le Basque Catering & Production. Bidding was active in the silent auction powered by Paddle8, which featured 25 works by contemporary artists such as Tracey Emin and Paola Pivi.

At the after party keep The Ball rolling. . .DJ Mauricio Parra made sure the dance floor was had packed and guests had so much fun, that the keep The Ball rolling Co-Chairs, Malena Assing, Clara Bullrich, Nathan Lieberman, John Lin, Adriana Vergara and Alexa Wolman decided to extend the party an extra hour. At the end of the night, guests received gift bags compliments of TOD’S.
