The Main Event 2024

Greater Miami Jewish Federation hosted 14 Past Federation Presidents and Board Chairs for an evening that allowed the Jewish community to stand in solidarity with Israel and recognize Federation President and CEO Jacob Solomon for 42 years of service.

Fourteen Past Presidents and Board Chairs joined Ariel Bentata and Lily Serviansky on stage to present Federation President & CEO Jacob Solomon with the 2024 Friend of Israel Humanitarian Award

Greater Miami Jewish Federation President and CEO Jacob Solomon was honored with the Friend of Israel Humanitarian Award in front of 1,400 people at The Main Event. Among the attendees were 14 Past Federation Presidents and Board Chairs. The evening allowed the Jewish community to stand in solidarity with Israel and recognize Solomon for 42 years of service. His impassioned speech touched on a variety of topics, including our community’s continued robust support for Israel during the ongoing war with Hamas —  and always.

The evening also included a keynote address by His Excellency Reuven “Ruvi” Rivlin, the 10th President of the State of Israel, and a conversation between Guest of Honor His Excellency Michael Herzog, Israeli Ambassador to the US, and Emmy-Award-winning journalist Glenna Milberg, host of WPLG’s “This Week in South Florida.” The program began with a rousing medley of songs performed by the Israel Defense Forces Special in Uniform Band, which brought the crowd to their feet.

Additionally, Federation Board Chair Ariel Bentata and General Campaign Chair Lily Serviansky announced the establishment of the Jacob Solomon Jewish Innovation Fund to honor Solomon’s impactful leadership and carry forward his extraordinary legacy. The fund will support innovative and future-oriented projects for the Jewish community.

Inspired by what they heard — including all the Greater Miami Jewish Federation is doing to help Israelis face a new and unimaginable future — guests donated approximately $4 million to the Annual Greater Miami Jewish Federation/UJA Campaign, which provides a lifeline of support and services in Miami, in Israel and in more than 70 other countries around the world.
