The Mighty Meital
The actress turned DJ takes on WMC
As Winter Music Conference (WMC) takes over Miami with an international convergence of dance-craved partiers and world-renowned DJs, SocialMiami tends to take a backseat.
Although when the opportunity arises to spend the afternoon with an internationally-acclaimed actress turned MTV buzzworthy artist who recently produced a music video with LMFAO’s Rami Afuni, we figured we’d venture into the WMC genre.
SocialMiami’s Aaron Glickman caught up with Israeli-born actress/comedian/singer Meital Dohan (Meital) at Lester’s in Wynwood to learn what inspires this classically trained, award-winning actress and find out why she has chosen to venture into the world of electronic dance music.

Bal Harbour Art Nights
Headlining this year’s Bal Harbour Art Nights Finale is the late Sara Modiano.
Holding court at the Bal Harbour Shops’ Center Courtyard, the Sara Modiano Foundation for the Arts will show Modiano’s “Ser” installation (pictured). In the artists own words, ”While I was living in Mallorca I would stare at the horizon from the shores of the Mediterranean Sea for hours day after day. This visual plenitude that I perceived as I stared into the distance gave me the feeling of being and not being. That feeling, part fantasy and part reality is so powerful and grand that even though fascinating, it is also frightening. I knew then, that my work would come together.”
Big Brothers Big Sisters Hosts “Big Event”
Over 650 guests enjoyed a magical evening at the JW Marriott Marquis when Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Miami hosted The Big Event 2012: Inspire. The fundraiser featured a festive silent auction village, dinner, dancing with the Steve Chase band and a moving performance , “Reach” by the Miami Choral Academy. The Big Event was chaired by Bonnie Crabtree and Bill Jones, and Auction co-chairs were Stella Holmes and Lori Brown. The Inspiration-themed dining room was created by Jose Dans and his talented team at Wow Factor. The Big Event 2012 was dedicated to Rick Adams, a longtime Big Brothers Big Sisters board member and big brother who passed away in December. Rick co-chaired the gala last year, and he was especially missed at this year’s event
