Young Society of Diabetes Research Institute Foundation
…a bit of flair sauntered onto the scene as Saks Bal Harbour presented the Just Cavalli fashion show. The unique presentation had models strutting around an installation of what appeared to be missile heads hanging downward from the ceiling. The installation was a part of Euro-Centric, Part 1, an artistic display that attempts to answer several philosophical questions about Europe’s past and present. The dichotomy of the Just Cavalli line – which brands itself as a fanciful, eclectic, nonchalant, original and sensual style – presented amongst art that depicts the effects of war and cultural uncertainty was a fascinating visual.
Christian Louboutin at Saks Bal Harbour
Famed shoe designer Christian Louboutin launched his spring 2008 collection at Saks Fifth Avenue Bal Harbour in what can only be characterized as a shopping frenzy. Any lady fortunate enough to purchase a pair of Louboutins on this sparkling Saturday afternoon had the opportunity to meet Monsieur Louboutin and have their high heels with lacquered red soles signed by the master himself.
Sixth Annual FedEx/St. Jude Angels and Stars Gala
More than 550 guests honored Emilio and Gloria Estefan at the star-studded sixth annual FedEx/ ST. Jude gala that took place at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County in the John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall. Celebrity guests came out to pay tribute to the Estefan’s for their commitment to international healthcare, the local community, and the music and entertainment industry.

There’s No Place Like Jackson, the biggest fundraiser for the Jackson Memorial Foundation (JMF), was held for the first time in its illustrious 17-year history on the grounds of the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center campus.

The spectacular Miami event, held at The Bath Club, was a papparazzi’s dream with a host of Grammy and VMA winners, actors and film directors, fashion models, sports stars and power players. The event raised $575,000 to benefit arts programs for kids, including many in Miami-Dade.
