uAspire Miami is proud to host its first annual Cap & Gown Gala taking place Saturday, September 28, 2013, at 7 p.m. at The Raleigh South Beach. The Cap & Gown Gala is not your traditional sit-down event with extended presentations and banquet-style dining. The Cap & Gown Gala is an uplifting celebration, a South Beach Chic party with DJ’s, VIP Cabana seating, and a must see “Hats Off After Party” on the penthouse floor of the Raleigh Hotel. Guests will enjoy elegant cuisine by James Beard Award-Winning Miami Chef and restaurateur, Michael Schwartz, and a lavish silent auction.

The Cap & Gown Gala will help uAspire Miami to raise vital funds to support its programming and increase awareness to the South Florida community about value of postsecondary education and affordable paths to college. In addition, the Gala will be honoring community leaders who are the first in their family to graduate from college. By publicly recognizing the “First Ones” and highlighting their impact in the community, we hope to raise awareness of the power of higher education and its ability to propel young people out of poverty. uAspire’s First Ones will also help inspire the thousands of young people in our community who aspire to become First Ones themselves.

This year, we have been privileged to honor Jose Basulto, Deputy Mayor Russell Benford, Thomas M. Cornish and Norie del Valle. We expect more than 300 business, education, healthcare, government, philanthropic and community leaders to attend the Cap & Gown Gala and an additional 100 young leaders to attend the Hats Off After Party. The Gala will also feature special performances from students uAspire Miami has served.
