Zo’s Summer Groove

Annual Miami Tradition Continues July 9 through 13

Zo’s Summer Groove (ZSG) is back, and this year they’ve added the fabulous Dwayne Wade to the mix. The five-day weekend features an exclusive benefit dinner and golf tournament, along with youth basketball clinics, comedy jam & concert, youth summit, free block party, all-star basketball game, and numerous after-parties. Proceeds benefit Alonzo Mourning Charities and the Wade’s World Foundation.

Since 1997, Alonzo Mourning Charities has raised more than $6.5 million for various programs that aid in the development of children and their families. Its mission is to encourage the educational development of youth by creating programs and youth enrichment centers that promote positive change in low socioeconomic communities.

The Wade’s World Foundation has a similar mission to that of the Alonzo Mourning Charities by providing support to community-based organizations that promote education, health and social skills for children in at-risk situations. Wade’s organization is a perfect addition to ZSG, a fixture in the South Florida community.

With Zo and D. Wade working together, the events have brought together some major league talent. Publix and Publix Super Markets Charities bring the beach to the Groove by hosting the ZSG Beach Ball on July 11, featuring a special musical performance by Queen Latifah.

Superstar Chris Tucker takes center stage on July 12 at the Heineken ZSG Comedy Show hosted by Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Accompanied by comedians such as Jay Lamont, Miami’s own DJ Irie will help provide the right mix of tunes for the evening. Popular among ZSG fans, the comedy show sold out last year and promises to deliver once again.

Super Bowl Champ Michael Strahan will host one of three holes at the pristine Doral Golf Resort & Spa on July 10 during the City Furniture ZSG Golf Classic. Golfers will have the chance to challenge Strahan, Wade and Mourning for great prizes.

And Old School meets New School when Zo leads his veteran team against D. Wade’s roster of young superstars at the Carnival Cruise Lines ZSG All-Star Basketball Game at the AmericanAirlines Arena on July 13.

Other events include a FREE Block Party that is open to the public outside the AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami, the Nike ZSG Youth Basketball Clinic at the Miramar Youth Enrichment Center and the ZSG Youth Summit hosted by the Michael Fux Foundation at the Hotel InterContinental Miami.

Tickets are available at ZSG.com or from Ticketmaster. So, buy your tickets now and support the interests of two of Miami’s most charismatic figures: Alonzo Mourning and Flash himself, Dwayne Wade.
