The Summer Groove
Destination Fashion and Art for Life Miami Beach
One of the biggest highlights of every summer has been Zo’s Summer Groove – a series of events that bring the South Florida community together to raise funds for the Alonzo Mourning Charities. Last year, Mourning brought Dwyane Wade, and his Wade’s World foundation, onboard and began the process of grooming the all star talent to become a leader in the community and one day run the event. This year, another step was taken to combine the strength of these two superstars by re-branding “Zo’s Summer Groove” into “The Summer Groove – Hosted by Zo and D. Wade.”
Art for Life Miami Beach
Kim Kardashian (pictured at left) hosted Russell Simmons’, Danny Simmons’ and Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation‘s second annual Art for Life Miami Beach gala at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach. The evening of glamour and giving was held in celebration of the creative energy of New York and South Florida youth and honored Anheuser-Busch, the Rubell Family Collection and Chairman of Fontainebleau Resorts, Jeffrey Soffer. A surprised Alonzo Mourning was recognized for his positive impact on the lives of children and his community through his philanthropic endeavors of Alonzo Mourning Charities. A bevy of celebrities were in attendance including New Orleans Saint Reggie Bush, actress Vivica Fox, George Hamilton, former Mexican President Vicente Fox and his wife Marta Fox, Miss Africa USA 2008-2009 Nyasha Zimucha and legendary soul singer Betty Wright.
Erik Don, owner of D&G Art and Design Gallery in Wynwood is very excited about both the Flow and Bowler lines.
“These lines are fantastic. We found them both at the show in the Milan and knew that they would be perfect for the Miami market, which appreciates sleek and modern designs that bold and artistic in nature. I’ve found that many discerning designers have found Flow and Bowler to be perfect for their clients.”
Breaking the Silence
More than 260 friends of Kristi House turned out for Breaking the Silence on child sexual abuse at the Children Advocacy Center’s third annual luncheon for the community initiative. More than $320,000 was raised in gifts and pledges to help children who have been sexually abused in Miami-Dade County.
