SUMMER CHORAL CAMP – MAKING THE MUSIC VIDEO

Calling all boys and girls in grades 3 through 12 who love to sing! Campers will have a blast at The Children’s Voice’s 3-week 2014 Summer Choral Camp! CVC’s music educators and industry professionals are dedicated to enhancing the lives of youth through choral training to develop vocal technique, ear-training, music reading, and interpersonal skills. Fun and interactive activities include the writing, recording and filming of a professional quality music video! No former music training or an audition are required to attend. Camp runs Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and extended hours are available – from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for an additional $55 per week. Cost is $450 for the 3-week session, and campers must attend the full three weeks to participate in the music video. Tuition does not include lunch. Partnering this summer with Camp Broadway, an industry leader in theater arts camps and educational programming, the Adrienne Arsht Center will present Camp Broadway Miami for youth aged 10 to 17. Offering an immersive program of hands-on experience in theater, song and dance for theater-loving kids, Camp Broadway Miami will include 5 full days of instruction by trained Broadway professionals, master classes with visiting artists, backstage seminar with a production crew, official T-shirt, cast-of-characters headshot and healthy lunches and snacks. ROCK & CONTEMPORARY MUSIC CAMP WITH BERKLEE PULSE METHOD

This contemporary music camp is the perfect choice for young students, ages 8 to 18, who are eager to begin their musical journey. During each two-week session, every musician will experience hands-on instruction in the instrument of their choice, practice performance technique in a band setting, and participate in innovative music labs catered to each individual. SUMMER TREATMENT PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN WITH ADHD

June 16 – August 8
If you are looking for something more than medication to help improve your child’s behavior, the award-winning Summer Treatment Programs at FIU’s Center for Children and Families offer therapeutic planned activities in a summer day camp setting. Children with ADHD and other behavior challenges in Pre-K, children entering grades K-5 with ADHD, and children between 4 and 6 years of age who are currently in the higher end of the growth curve will flourish in this Summer Treatment Program composed of a set of evidence-based treatments. Children entering grades K through 5 (ages 5 to 12) will spend the day playing sports and engaging in recreational activities with other children their age. They will also participate in social skills training, and spend 2 hours each day in a classroom setting working on academics and behaviors conducive to academic success. Each group will consist of up to 15 children and 4 staff members. All groups participate in special activities on Fridays. Parents also receive parent training in how to manage their child’s ADHD and other behavioral challenges. Children who participate in this year’s STP will have the opportunity to enroll in a medication research study as well. Families enrolled in the treatment study will receive free medication and evaluations. The camp runs from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The cost of the program is on a sliding scale based on income and number of dependents. The program will be held near FIU’s University Park Campus (South Campus). The Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science is gearing up for its 49th Annual Summer Camp, offering eight one-week camp sessions for kids aged 4 to 8th grade. Unique and fun-filled experiences include ecology, robotics, engineering, technology, field trips and more. While camp activities will be specific to the session chosen each week, every class will feature science lessons, projects, experiments and crafts, interspersed with time to explore the museum galleries and a 30-minute outdoor PE time. Campers in the 4th through 8th grade groups will also go on a variety of field trips geared toward the weekly topic. JUNIOR NATURALIST SUMMER CAMP AND KOOLSCIENCE

June 16 – July 25
Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is offering two exciting summer camps this summer. Both camps are great opportunities for campers to explore the tropical flora and fauna of Fairchild’s 83 acres and to investigate the rich world of science and nature. The Junior Naturalist Summer Camp (June 16 – July 25) is open to ages 6 to 11 and invites campers to explore nature, science and art with fun outdoor activities and games. Each of the six-week sessions has a special environmentally-focused theme. The camp runs Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Cost per week is $175 for Fairchild members and $200 for non-members. The new KoolScience Summer Camp (June 16 – 27) is for youth ages 12 to 14 and spans two weeks, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It offers campers the chance to conduct research, explore Fairchild’s labs, work with scientists and collect data in the Garden. Zoo Miami is hosting Zoofari Summer Camp, a fun-filled, educational camp that offers a wide range of activities for campers aged 4 to 13. Children will be immersed into the world of wildlife through animal encounters, special presentations and other fun and exciting activities. The Belen Wolverine Summer Camp, sponsored by Belen Jesuit Preparatory School, is one of the longest operating and largest day camps in South Florida for campers aged 4 to 14. AFRICAN HERITAGE CULTURAL ARTS CENTER’S SUMMER ARTS CONSERVATORY

The African Heritage Cultural Arts Center offers a ten-week camp program for youth, ages 5 to 16. The 39th Annual Summer Arts Conservatory provides campers the opportunity to engage in unique cultural experiences through Dance, Drama, Media, Fashion Arts, Visual Arts, Instrumental Music and Vocal Music. The program culminates in a Fashion Show on August 1, Summer Arts Festival on August 9 and Recital on August 15. The camp runs from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Doors open at 7:30 a.m., and late pick-up at 6 p.m. is available. Tuition is $500 for the ten-week program. Applications are available by phone or email, or can be complete in person at the Center.

YOUTH SUMMER CAMP OPTIONS AT FAU

June 16 – July 18
Florida Atlantic University will offer a variety of youth summer camp options for students in kindergarten through 12th grade this summer. Areas of focus include arts and enrichment, athletics, engineering, environment and science. Opportunities include FAU’s Architecture Summer Institute, available for high school sophomores through students in their first two years of college. Students will create models and drawings, attend topical lectures, visit local architecture firms and experience life in the architecture studio. The program will be facilitated by FAU’s School of Architecture professors and student teaching assistants. The cost of the two-week course is $800, which includes all supplies necessary for the projects. All students with or without design background are welcome. This program is not for college credit, but students will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the program.

COLONY THEATRE PERFORMANCE CAMP

The Colony Theatre Performance Camp is a fun experience for all kids ages 6 to 16 years! Campers will develop an appreciation for the arts, culture and nationalities and will learn the basics of theatre, dance, voice, public speaking and more! All instructors are highly trained experienced performers. The Colony Theatre Performance Camp will include 4 weeks of hands-on training, culminating in an entertaining performance presented by the campers. All levels are welcome. BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF MIAMI-DADE SUMMER CAMP

This summer the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade will be teaching children important values such as friendship, honesty and teamwork while partaking in exhilarating indoor and outdoor activities. The camp will run at four different locations: the Hank Kline Club, Northwest Club, South Beach Club and Kendall Club. Campers will participate in arts and crafts, exciting sports games, thrilling field trips, and more. Field trips include age-appropriate movies, Chuck E. Cheese’s and bowling, in addition to swimming for older children. Boys & Girls Clubs will provide campers with a tasty and nutritious lunch and afternoon snack, at no additional cost, or campers may bring their own lunch. ART CAMP FOR KIDS AT CORAL SPRINGS MUSEUM OF ART

Weekly Sessions June 9-Aug. 15, Morning or Afternoon (9 a.m.-Noon or 1:45-4:45 p.m.), Option for Both Sessions

Aspiring artists, ages 6 to 16 years old, can participate in Art Camp for Kids at Coral Springs Museum of Art, offering weekly morning or afternoon sessions. Campers will explore art of all mediums and can choose between several programs and themes appealing to each child’s creative mind. Themes include painting, fashion illustration, cartooning, sculpture and more, as campers create a masterpiece proud parents will love. Morning session runs from 9 a.m. to noon, and afternoon camp is from 1:45 to 4:45 p.m. Staff supervised lunch hour is included for young Picassos who chose to enroll in both morning and afternoon sessions. Museum members pay $135 for each week-long session and $255 for a 2-week session, and non-members pay $150 for the week and $260 for 2 weeks. Fees may vary according to session.

Center Stage Miami Dance Academy is offering a summer of fun dance and music options for ages 4 and up. Both full days (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and half days (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) are available with an array of activities to keep campers busy. There will be dance and music classes, technique classes, field trips, drawing, group games, movies, make-up and photo shoot sessions and a summer recital. Camp fees range from $1155 for the 10-week program all day or $700 for 10 weeks of half days; or $390 for a 3-week session full day and $240 for 3 weeks of half days. By the week fees range from $148 to $165 for full day and $90 to $100 for half-day. Campers bring their own lunches.
