FACE Excellence Awardees Jorge Perez, Sam Verdeja, Dr. Aida Levitan & Frank del Rio

The FACE Excellence Awards luncheon honored key individuals from the Cuban American community for their impactful contributions to South Florida. Held at The Rusty Pelican in Key Biscayne, the event was a heartfelt celebration of achievements, showcasing the outstanding influence these honorees have had on the local community. Inspiring speeches, heartfelt recognition, and a warm atmosphere marked the occasion, highlighting the importance of community, collaboration, and continuous striving for excellence.

This prestigious event, presented by FIU Casa Cuba and Murgado Automotive Group, celebrated leaders and visionaries who have demonstrated unparalleled dedication, innovation, and impact across a wide range of industries. The honorees included:

Jorge Pérez – Entrepreneurship Award: Chairman and CEO of The Related Group, Mr. Pérez is a leading philanthropist and the namesake of the Pérez Art Museum Miami, due to his transformative contributions to the arts. His visionary leadership and philanthropy have had a lasting impact on Miami’s cultural landscape, enriching the lives of countless residents and visitors.

Aida Levitan, Ph.D. – Excellence Award for Leadership: Dr. Levitan is the President of ArtesMiami; Board Director and immediate past Chairman of U.S. Century Bank and of FACE; and former president of the number one U.S. Hispanic ad agency. Her leadership in the business and cultural sectors has been instrumental in promoting Hispanic art and culture, fostering a greater appreciation and understanding of the rich heritage of the Cuban American community.

Sam Verdeja – Lifetime Achievement Award: Co-founder of FACE, author, and Senior Executive at Miami Herald Publishing Co., Mr. Verdeja’s legacy in journalism and community advocacy continues to inspire. His dedication to preserving and sharing the stories of Cuban exiles has helped to build a stronger, more cohesive community, ensuring that the contributions of Cuban Americans are recognized and celebrated.

Frank del Rio – Excellence in Business Award: Former President and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, Mr. Del Rio is also the Founder of Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises. His innovative approach to the cruise industry has set new standards for excellence and luxury, making significant contributions to the global tourism sector and elevating the profile of Cuban American business leaders.
