On Saturday, November 20, 2010, The Vizcayans will host the 54th Vizcayan Ball at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. This year’s event will honor long-time Vizcayans board member, James W. “Jim” Murphy on the occasion of his retirement from active service on the board and his appointment to the organization’s new Honorary Board.
President Don Kress, in announcing this appointment, said to Jim, “We are grateful to you for all that you have done for so many years for our organization to further our mission of protecting, preserving and promoting Vizcaya Museum and Gardens especially your service as President from 1986-88 and 2003-06 for a total of five years. We are particularly grateful to you for always being there in the good times and the trying times with a warm, welcoming voice of cheer and reason.” Jim’s friends and colleagues in Miami’s civic circles will join in the celebration of his exemplary record of service to The Vizcayans and Vizcaya Museum and Gardens at the November 20th event.
The Co-Chairs of the 2010 gala are Leslie A. Bowe, VP; Sheila J. Kuhl, Treasurer; and Stella M. Holmes, Member, Vizcaya Museum and Gardens Trust. To date, the Evening Sponsors include Stella M. Holmes; Santa Maria Novella Boutique at Bal Harbour; Van Cleef & Arpels at Bal Harbour; ExxonMobil; BNY Mellon Bank; Barbara and Mort Guilford; and Frank and Sheila Kuhl.
The evening will be orchestrated by Thierry’s Catering, the music will be provided by City Lights, Steven Chase Music & Entertainment, with their high-energy and air of sophisticated elegance – as always, the centerpiece of the evening will be the magical setting of Vizcaya Museum and Gardens overlooking Biscayne Bay. The evening will crescendo to a spectacular display of fireworks over the water beyond Vizcaya’s east terrace – this year a big surprise will cap the fireworks display.
As a Evening Sponsor of the 2010 Vizcayan Ball, Santa Maria Novella hosted The Vizcayans and their friends at the new boutique at Bal Harbour for Fashion’s Night Out. Among the guests for this pre-Ball event were Ball Committee Members Sonia Gibson, William Meyersohn and Stella Holmes. Hosting the evening for the Santa Maria Novella Boutique was Arley Requeiro, Manager.
