A Golf & Tennis Weekend at Fisher Island Club
Benefits The Prostate Cancer Foundation
Philanthropist and financier Mike Milken hosted a special golf and tennis tournament weekend at Fisher Island Club to celebrate the advancements in the cure for prostate cancer that are revolutionizing treatments for patients. The weekend festivities kicked off with a reception and dinner at the Club’s historic Vanderbilt Mansion. Throughout the two-day event for amateur golfers and tennis players were given the unique opportunity to tee off and serve up alongside elite pros in competitive tournaments. All proceeds from the weekend benefited the Prostate Cancer Foundation, the world’s leading philanthropic organization funding and accelerating prostate cancer research. Founded in 1993 by Mike Milken, the foundation has raised more than $700 million and has provided funding to more than 2,000 research projects at more than 200 cancer centers and universities in 23 countries around the world. Despite the many advances that have been made, prostate cancer still remains the second leading cause of death in American men, with a man being diagnosed with prostate cancer every 3.3 minutes.
