“Art at the James” is a signature program of The James Royal Palm. The initiative commissions Miami artists to create works for the hotel that embody the brand’s “Luxury Liberated” theme.

Since opening, The James has worked with both arts institutions and individual talent in a genuine effort to support Miami’s growing art scene. Notable participants have included the New World Symphony, YoungArts and visual artist Jorge Pantoja.

Additionally, The James, in partnership with Miami Independent Thinkers, has its “Local Art Series”, an ongoing, monthly program that highlights the works of local talent.

The latest artist to be commissioned is street artist and City of Miami firefighter, Chris “Dewerks” Dudot. The James commissioned Dudot to create a series of elevator installations using a style that he refers to as abstract linear.

The commission took several weeks to complete and featured Dudot creating his works on a sundeck overlooking the hotel pool. Using spray paint and tape on large vertical canvasses, the firefighter completed five pieces that were hung like wallpaper on the elevator doors.
