American Red Cross celebrates 31st Anniversary Ball
The American Red Cross celebrated its 31st Annual American Red Cross Ball at the beautiful Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne with more than 450 prominent and influential community leaders and philanthropists in attendance for a night of entertainment, exquisite food, elegant décor and dancing.
Commemorating its 31st year of fundraising through the efforts of an extraordinary committee, this year’s ball raised more than $500,000 in support of the local disaster response programs and other life-saving services offered by the American Red Cross South Florida Region.
Since 1992, the Red Cross Ball has been established as one of Miami’s most prestigious social fundraising events. CBS4 anchor, Shannon Hori, served as mistress of ceremonies for this year’s event, which was chaired by Marie-Ilene and Tom Whitehurst.
Our guests enjoyed fine, hand-mixed drinks all night provided by Bacardi USA, décor by Petal Productions and dancing to hits from the last 50 years played by Soul Survivors Orchestra. A fabulous silent auction included items such as an Azamara European Cruise, American Airlines Business Class tickets to Europe and a rare Heat Basketball signed by the entire championship team and coach.
The Grand Humanitarian sponsors of this year’s Ball were The Bachelor Foundation, Inc.; Trish and Dan Bell; and Marie-Ilene and Tom Whitehurst. The Humanitarian Sponsors were Bacardi USA, Bank of America, Bunny Bastian, Terry Buoniconti, Mr. and Mrs. Paul DiMare, Marile & Jorge Luis Lopez, Esq., Ryder System, The Wilder Foundation, The Garner Foundation and Joronne Jeter.
2014’s Red Cross Ball is slated for Saturday, February 22nd, at the Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne. For information contact Kenia Tedesco at 305-728-2512 or Kenia.Tedesco@redcross.org.
