A Legacy of Leadership: The 33rd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Breakfast

Sponsor Ana VeigaMilton and fellow Girl Scout supporter Alice Bravo captured a selfie with U.S. Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson, founder of the 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project and organizer of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Breakfast.
Highlighting the power of long-term partnership, the José Milton Foundation serves as an annual sponsor and scholarship donor, helping the 5000 Role Models continue its vital role in removing financial barriers for South Florida’s future leaders. We were honored to be among more than 900 community leaders, supporters, and dignitaries gathered for the 33rd Annual 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project Dr. MLK Scholarship Breakfast. This landmark event, founded by Congresswoman Frederica Wilson, honors Dr. King’s legacy by investing directly in the next generation of leaders and empowering them through mentorship and scholarships. Thanks to donor support, 50 outstanding young men from M-DCPS will receive full-tuition scholarships, enabling them to pursue higher education without incurring debt. Adding a touch of “girl power,” I was delighted to distribute Girl Scout Cookie boxes, celebrating leadership and service across our community.

Further elevating the program, keynote speaker Bishop Neil C. Ellis from Mount Tabor Church in the Bahamas moved the audience with a stirring address on “Integrity and Discipline,” reminding attendees that Dr. King’s dream requires active stewardship and the continuous guidance of young men of color. He made a resounding Call to Purpose and Action.
The breakfast concluded on a high note with a Junkanoo celebration, honoring culture, community, and the joyful expression of unity that Dr. King championed.

The success of this year’s gathering reaffirms my family’s enduring commitment to transforming lives through mentorship and opportunity. I invite you to learn more and support by visiting the 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project.

The Milton Family Hosts “All You Need is Love” – A Beatles NYE Celebration

Colorful Friends boast 1960s Hippie Glam Flair at the Milton Family's "All You Need is Love" NYE Bash.
What has become a cherished New Year’s Eve tradition, our family was honored to welcome over 600 friends and fellow philanthropists into our family home—bringing together leaders and changemakers who believe that when we come together, real impact happens. For one special night, our home was transformed into a joyful space of friendship, gratitude, and celebration.

Welcoming 2026, we embraced love, connection, and purpose in true 1960s style at the Milton Family’s Beatles-inspired “All You Need Is Love” Twist & Shout Bash. Surrounded by family, friends, and Miami’s philanthropic community, we celebrated the belief that love is all you need, kindness never goes out of style, and together we can let it be the start of another year of meaningful impact.
