Arsht Center Celebrates 5th Anniversary Season of Jazz Roots

In celebration of the 5th Anniversary Season of Jazz Roots, the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts and Larry Rosen, together with presenting sponsor TotalBank, hosted an exclusive ocean-side launch event at Fontainebleau Miami Beach’s La Côte Mediterranean Grill on Wednesday evening, April 11th.

Graciously hosted by La Côte, this invitation-only soirée brought together Miami’s biggest names in the jazz world. Renowed Jazz Roots co-producer Larry Rosen and Arsht Center President & CEO John Richard unveiled the upcoming season as well as highlighted the past 5 years. Notable guests included multi-award-winning musicians-Terence Blanchard, Sammy Figueroa, and Kevin Mahogany; Adrienne Arsht Center Board Members: Carol Ann Taylor, Raul Valdez-Fauli, and Adriana Sabino; UM Frost School of Music: Julia Berg and Chuck Bergeron; FIU School of Music: Karen Fuller; YoungArts: Paul Lehr, Rebecca Gentry, Roberta and Eric Fliss; Carl and Toni Randolph; international photographer Daniel Azoulay; Larry and Hazel Rosen; Dr. Dorothy Fields; WLRN’s Ed Bell; entertainment attorney Leslie Jose Zigel; Adrienne Arsht Center Executive Staff: John Richard, Scott Shiller, Ken Harris, Valerie Riles, Andrew Goldberg and Suzanna Valdez. More than 100 guests enjoyed live tunes by the Stamps Jazz Quintet of the Frost School of Music (University of Miami) and took a first look at famed photographer Daniel Azoulay’s images featuring artistic shots of live performances and intimate backstage moments.

The al fresco celebration included cocktails compliments of Bombay Sapphire and hors d’oeuvres by La Côte Chef Christina Coupet who is pleased to announce new evening hours that allow guests to enjoy La Côte until 10 p.m., Thursday through Saturday. Nestled between the Fontainebleau Miami Beach’s iconic pool and gorgeous panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, La Côte, which evokes the glamorous feel of the French Riviera, has been a go-to for locals in the know and hotel guests looking to enjoy a gorgeously-prepared al fresco lunch, delectable drinks or an early sunset supper.

The extraordinary 2012-13 season of Jazz Roots begins in November 2012 and runs through April 2013 in the John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall, showcasing six unique programs featuring the most influential artists on the jazz scene today, as well as rising stars. This season’s program explores the spectrum of jazz – from timeless classics and Cubop to jazz-funk and modern jazz – highlighting the greatest moments in the evolution of this beloved American musical genre.
