Beach Chic

Fab Fashion Choices for MOCA's Surf's Up Bash

Janice Lipton in Roberto Cavalli

The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) invites everyone to catch a wave at its February 19 MOCA Bash Surf’s Up cocktail dance party. Celebrating the thrill and spirit of surfing, MOCA Bash: Surf’s Up features live entertainment, sensational artist-designed environments, great food and cocktails.

The style for this awesome evening?

“Beach Chic,” of course.

Here are some fashion ideas for the event, modeled by fashion-forward MOCA Bash: Surf’s Up committee members, that were selected from Bal Harbour stores participating in the evening’s silent auction. Proceeds of the fundraiser benefit MOCA’s exhibition and education programs and its permanent collection.

Jessica Rae Anderson in Elie Tahari

Wife, mother and jeweler, Janice Lipton is an avid photographer who has published two books that capture the beauty of the seasons. Her love of flowers and fashion inspired her to chose a Floral Silk Halter Gown by Roberto Cavalli from Saks Fifth Avenue Bal Harbour to interpret Beach Chic, wearing it with a beautiful smile and a ring of her own design with pink kunzite in pink gold with diamonds and pink sapphires. Janice is the Founder and Trustee of the Lipton Foundation, which provides charitable support for many local, national and international causes. She is also a web entrepreneur who has recently co-founded a luxury brand and content website.

Jessica Rae Anderson, fashion reporter and professional wardrobe stylist, is a host for Vida Miami TV, reporting on current fashion trends and the Miami fashion scene. For her Beach Chic look, Jessica chose an outfit from Elie Tahari. She pairs the silk jersey “Liz” dress in the Iris multi pattern and grosgrain ribbon trim with a “Samantha” tote in antique silver leather and “Maxine” wedge sandals in bisque.

Alana Burstyn, who works in marketing, chose an outfit from 100% Capri, a clothing and décor line handmade in Italy using the purest and lightest of linens. Alana’s hot pants are paired with an elegant ruche shirt and a sweater of specially-woven linen, cinched with a double-banded natural leather belt that can be worn three different ways. Her sandals are adorned with a Swarovski crystal and her hat is an original Panama handmade over a five-month period in Ecuador.
