Dade Medical College partners with AHA Heart Ball
Funding lifesaving research, establishing hospital guidelines, advocating for P.E. in schools and creating awareness about heart disease and stroke are just some of the ways in which the American Heart Association has served the South Florida community for more than four decades. In March 2013, the association will be celebrating the 45th annual Miami Heart Ball, one of the city’s most prestigious charity events.
Dade Medical College, a postsecondary education and training institution, is the evening’s Heart Society Sponsor. In addition, Ernesto Perez, CEO of Dade Medical College, and his wife Sylvia Perez, have wholeheartedly committed to chairing the gala.
“It is an honor for us to be part of this epic event,” said Perez. “We aspire to continue the legacy the Miami Heart Ball has established within Miami’s medical and philanthropic community.”
The college, which offers Associates of Science and Bachelors of Science degrees in nursing and allied health, is an American Heart Association Certified CPR Training Center and offers Basic Life Support (BLS) Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to the community as part of the School of Continuing Education. Dade Medical College was recently approved and certified, exceeding the association’s requirements.
Ernesto, Sylvia and the American Heart Association invite individuals and corporations to the black-tie 1920s-themed event, where guests will reminisce on how far the American Heart Association has come throughout the years, especially in our own backyard. The evening promises to provide guests with a night full of heart-healthy food, live music, dancing and entertainment that will capture the glory of the iconic decade. Further details are underway and will be released within the next upcoming months.
Notable attendees from previous years include Spanish singing artist Paulina Rubio, University of Miami President Donna Shalala, Chairman of Neurology at University of Miami Dr. Ralph Sacco, and philanthropists Dr. Sanford L. & Beatrice Ziff.
