Event Chair Rossana Franco, Featured Speaker Camryn Manheim, Linda Ackerman

More than 260 women attended the Greater Miami Jewish Federation Women’s Department 2006 Lion of Judah Luncheon held on November 8th at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables. The featured speaker, Emmy-award-winning actress Camryn Manheim, let her passionate spirit shine as she shared funny and poignant anecdotes about growing up in a Jewish home in middle-America.

The event was chaired by Ester Ben-Zion, Rossana Franco and Sandy Halpern. Lourdes Gittelman is President of the Women’s Department and Julie Russin Bercow is Campaign Chair.

The Lion of Judah was established in Miami in 1972 as a symbol to recognize a new level of commitment. Today, over 14,000 women throughout North America, Israel and around the world proudly wear their Lion of Judah pins to declare their commitment of $5,000 or more to Federation/UJA Campaigns for the care and concern of Jews in need around the globe. In Miami, the Federation’s Women’s Department now raises more than $6.5 million annually to fund a network of vital social services and programs.
