Olivia Newton-John will be hosting “Pink and Blue for Two” on April 22 at The Raleigh hotel in Miami Beach. The event will raise money and awareness for both breast and prostate cancer research through Cure Breast Cancer, Inc, a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing breast health awareness and education to all women and their families. The event will urge couples to remind one another to perform regular screenings – hence their tag line “Screen Together. LIV Together.”

SocialMiami spoke with Newton-John to learn about her story as a 17-year cancer survivor and her role in the upcoming Miami charity event.

As a cancer survivor, Newton-John has become increasingly well known and respected for sharing her own breast cancer journey and promoting public awareness of the importance of early detection. Joining her is world-renowned breast cancer surgeon, Dr. Ernie Bodai, who directs the Breast Health Center at the Kaiser Permanente Sacramento hospital. Other “Pink and Blue for Two” partners include race car driver and “Pink and Blue for Two” founder, Emerson Newton-John (Olivia’s nephew), NASCAR veteran and cancer spokesperson, Larry Foyt and Senior Vice President of ONE Sotheby’s International Realty, Michael Valdes.

“Prevention is really important and women should have regular exams,” said Newton-John, whose efforts toward cancer education and treatment in her native Australia are significant. Newton-John has been helping to raise funds for Austin Health and the Ludwig Institute of Cancer Research for five years and has lent her name to The Olivia Newton-John Cancer Centre at Austin Health.

“There are 15 to 17 international research arms for the Ludwig Institute,” she explained, “and they all share information. Austin Health benefits from that network of knowledge.”

In addition to regular exams, Newton-John recommends living a life centered on “wellness.” In fact, Newton-John and husband John Easterling are producing products through Amazon Herb, Co. that are centered on natural ingredients.

“It’s important to be aware of what you eat, drink and think,” she said. “Be aware of your diet, of course. Exercise. And be aware of what you put in your mind. Healthy thoughts create a healthy lifestyle…take it all in with gratitude.”

Newton-John, who has a residence in Jupiter, Florida, likes South Beach and is looking forward to the “Pink and Blue for Two” at The Raleigh, an iconic Art Deco hotel currently celebrating its 70th year.

“South Beach is a lot of fun and alive,” she said. “The beach is wonderful and I like walking on the sand.”

Live performances at “Pink and Blue for Two” include Grammy-winner, Jon Secada, Australian talent, Brett Goldsmith (half brother of Emerson Newton-John) and a surprise guest performance is also planned. Guests will have the opportunity to mingle with celebrities and athletes, as they enjoy the beautiful poolside setting at The Raleigh.

Tickets are $250 for this special evening at The Raleigh and will include silent and live auctions, top-shelf open bar and delicious cuisine prepared by the hotel’s award-winning chefs.
