Cielito Artisan Pops
The pops at this tiny jewel box of a spot at 2750 N.W. 3rd Avenue, Suite 20A, in Wynwood, stands apart from others. Cielito Artisan Pops is located in the iconic, black and white stripped Wynwood building. It is no ordinary ice cream shop. Here they are not only edible, they are artful, containing no additives or dyes, but are all natural and seasonal. There are no GMO’s, no high fructose syrup, no artificial flavours or preservatives. Plus, they totally customize your pop according to your tastes.
Co-founders Sindy Posso and her husband Ivan Sussman from Colombia, run a mom and pop business with help from their family. They offer anywhere from 16-23 flavours daily. Prices start at around $4.50 for a basic pop and run upwards to $9 if you get the works. And believe me, it is easy to get carried away. If you are treating for a large group, it can become costly and take a bit of time, so be patient – it is worth the wait to have your pop dipped in Venezuelan dark chocolate or white chocolate, then sprinkled with the likes of gold dust, rose petals, cocoa nibs, gummy bears or wrapped in freshly made candy floss. There’s a kid inside of us all, so this appeals to all ages. There are ice pops, cream pops and even “pupsicles” for your canine.
The watermelon pop, tastes like watermelon, the strawberry, like strawberry. There are creative flavours like red hot chilies, avocado, kiwi, pineapple-coconut and so on.
The pops are handcrafted daily in small batches, so everything tastes really fresh. Even the mixes are made daily, their jams are made in house from peak seasonal fruit. As the seasons change so does the fruit.
There are four basic steps to ordering your pop here. 1) select your pop 2) coat it 3) add some toppings 4) love it
The space is lovely, with indoor/outdoor seating, turquoise rocking chairs out front, and lots of plants inside, with handcrafted gifts for sale.
These are high-end, handcrafted frozen desserts with a large variety of flavours. A great place for a sweet treat while walking around Wynwood, or you can be crazy like me, and make a special trip down there.
“Cielito”, means, “a little bit of heaven”, and it certainly lives up to its name.
Recommend.
