SocialMiami Driver: Jaguar Electrifies

Chris DiSchino is, over the next few weeks, helping his girlfriend shop for an SUV. The attorney who provides operational support for creative business — his clients work in fashion, art and design — drives a sports car. So the couple now needs a vehicle with space to transport their yoga mats, their surfboards, their paddle boards and the wardrobe changes that go along with such activities.
“I’m a Florida boy,” says DiSchino. “I grew up doing lots of sports and outdoor activities. I want to enjoy our beaches and protect them.”
That’s why DiSchino raced from his office in the Design District to the Mana Wynwood Convention Center to test drive the Jaguar I-Pace, the luxury car-makers first electrical model. Sure, while in the spacious venue is piped with sexy sounds and world-famous race cars, he managed to also check out the convertible and the electric racing series, the Formula E and the eTrophy. But the idea of long-term savings on gas and the potential for tax credits (this attorney says he knows of a few) has him eyeing the I-Pace.
“I am eco-friendly,” says DiSchino. “We’re banking on Miami becoming a hub for start-up and creative businesses. And eco -friendly moves, such as electrical vehicles, are the right moves to make. For the environment, for our carbon footprint and for the city as a whole.”
The Jaguar event at the Mana Convention Center Wynwood will run until Sunday, November 11th, will feature not only the experience to test drive a Jaguar I-Pace on a timed and scored, closed-circuit SmartCone drive, which offers countless possible routes in one drive. But also some serious culinary fare. On site: Michelle Bernstein Cantering, The Salty Donut, 222 Taco, and Crumb on Parchment will all be there with their own delicious offerings. “The Electric Lounge,” meanwhile, is an attraction on its own. This area will feature cutting-edge products, such as robots, digital picture frames and virtual reality activities. The 360 degree photo technology experience in a mirrored infinity room will have us leaving with electronic photos we can share on social media, and also a sperate spot for what promises to be the ultimate selfie.
