The Bass Ball 2017
More than 200 art patrons, artists, cultural influencers and philanthropists attended The Bass Ball, the annual fundraising gala in support of the museum’s education and exhibition programs.
Guests enjoyed a fashionable evening, presented by CHANEL, including a special performance by Lion Babe. After a dusk-lit cocktail hour in Collins Park, patrons were seated to an elegant meal inside the museum’s newly enclosed Lindemann Family Courtyard and Trudy and Paul Cejas Gallery. Following the dinner, guests celebrated and danced at the official after party with music by DJ Henri.
“The Bass Ball is the single largest fundraising event we hold each year in support of this extraordinary institution,” said George Lindemann, President of the Board of Directors of The Bass. “It was very gratifying to see how much support we received for the work and the mission of The Bass. Our donors understand the important role art and culture play in our community, and their generous contributions following our recent reopening will make all the difference as we embark on this exciting new chapter.” The Bass recently reopened on October 29, 2017, following a $12 million renovation to transform the visitor experience and increase programmable space by nearly 50 percent.
Museum leadership used the occasion to announce a recent major gift of $500,000 by Riccardo and Tatyana Silva towards the institution’s endowment fund, along with the naming of the Riccardo and Tatyana Silva Gallery on the museum’s first floor.
Chaired by Olga and Alex Blavatnik, Criselda and Jonathan Breene, Clara Bullrich and Josue Lain Velilla, Diane and Alan Lieberman, Soledad Picón and Alejandro Viel Temperley, Ines Rivero, and Alisa and Emilio Romano, The Ball had a creative edge where guests embraced the ‘whimsical’ black-tie attire and were encouraged to ‘Come As You Art!’
Among those in attendance at The Bass Ball were Joyce Green, General Manager of Fashion, CHANEL Inc., Ambassador Paul and Trudy Cejas, Sarah and Austin Harrelson, Eric Gould and Laura Paresky Gould, Cathy Vedovi, Christina Getty and Juan Pablo Cappello, Sarah Arison and Thomas Wilhelm, Barbara and Jose Hevia, Nick D’Annunzio, Suzy Buckley Woodward, Carole and Oscar Seikaly, David and Christy Martin, Martina Navratilova and Julia Lemigova, Don and Mera Rubell, Norman and Irma Braman, Ximena Caminos, artists Dara Friedman, Frances Trombly, Leyden Rodriguez-Casanova and Carlos Betancourt, and City of Miami Beach Commissioners Michael Gongora and Kristen Rosen Gonzalez.
