Miami Science Museum’s BIG BANG has quickly become one of Miami’s most anticipated and sought-after events for young professionals. Hosted by the museum’s next generation of leaders, the Young Patrons, this black-tie-optional soiree will kickoff a weeklong celebration for the new Museum’s groundbreaking on February 24th.

BIG BANG offers a chance to mingle with some of Miami’s most enthusiastic young philanthropists while celebrating the next chapter in the museum’s history. This year’s BIG BANG will also be the first time that the young professional focused event becomes a part of the Museum’s Galaxy Gala, chaired by Nancy Batchelor and Nicole Lozano, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary. A dedicated BIG BANG cocktail hour will begin promptly at 9 pm. At 10 pm the Galaxy Gala site will convert, with the aid of special effects, lighting and a theatrical “big bang”, into the party of the year.

“This is a big year for us at the Miami Science Museum. We will be breaking ground for our new state-of-the-art building in Downtown Miami, scheduled to open in 2015,” said Gillian Thomas, President and CEO of the Miami Science Museum. “Young professionals are an important group for us as they are our future leaders and family patrons. Our MiaSci Young Patrons have done a wonderful job of planning a signature event that helps complement our traditional Gala, with added nightlife-inspired excitement to be enjoyed by all.”

BIG BANG, graciously sponsored by Magic City Casino and chaired by Izzy Havenick, will feature music from DJ Mark Leventhal and cover band, Soul Survivors. The event also features a full open bar sponsored by Bacardi and edible swag sponsored by Azucar Bakery. With Miami’s ever-changing cityscape, right now all eyes are on the downtown waterfront corridor, soon to become Museum Park and the new home of The Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science (the new Miami Science Museum).

“MiaSci’s BIG BANG is Miami Science Museum’s signature fundraising event for young professionals,” said Havenick. “Miami Science Museum is one of the most important institutions in Miami and we’d love our community’s young professionals to get involved, and show their support for this great institution so that its place in the educational arena can be secured for future generations. It’s a good time for a great cause. We welcome all to a star studded night of dancing, fun, and plenty of excitement.”
