The Big Bang

MiaSci's Gala After Party

Miami Science Museum is adding something a little different this year to their Gala offering. MiaSci’s Young Patrons, the Museum’s thriving young professionals group, have decided to turn their yearly culmination event into a swanky, Miami nightlife-inspired after party to follow the Museum’s signature Gala.

MiaSci’s Big Bang After Party will begin where the traditional Galaxy Gala leaves off. Big Bang attendees and Gala goers that choose to attend the after party will be transported into deep space, homage to the Museum’s historic Planetarium, where specialty lighting, music and performance artists will welcome attendees with a symbolic Big Bang (literally).

The night will feature special performances by latin-fusion funk band Xperimento, who will keep attendees dancing to their rhythmic beats. Two well-known local DJ’s have been selected to spin dance music reminiscent of the Miami Beach club scene. The event will also have premium open bars to keep attendees hydrated and a gourmet dessert bar to enjoy late night treats. Following The Galaxy Gala’s fashion lead, Big Bang attendees are encouraged to wear cocktail attire. Miami nightlife chic attire is also acceptable and fabulous!

“This is a big year for us at the Miami Science Museum. We’re getting closer to breaking ground for our new state-of-the-art building in Downtown Miami, scheduled to open in 2014,” said Gillian Thomas, President and CEO of the Miami Science Museum. “Young professionals are an important group for us as they are our future leaders and family patrons. Our MiaSci Young Patrons have done a wonderful job of planning a signature event that helps complement our traditional Gala, with added nightlife-inspired excitement to be enjoyed by all,” she added.

The BIG BANG is Miami Science Museum’s signature fundraising event for young professionals. Technically in its third year (formerly The Big Bang Gala), this event brings an excellent cross section of Miami’s young professionals for a night of music, dancing and fun. “We don’t define our young professional demographic by age, it’s more about spirit. Our followers are usually between 25-45, but our events are open to everyone who is interested,” said Tony Lima, founder of the MiaSci Young Patrons.

MiaSci’s BIG BANG Gala After Party will be held the evening of Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 11 p.m. immediately following The Galaxy Gala at the JW Marriot & Hotel Beaux Arts in Downtown Miami. Tickets are on pre-sale now for $50 per person. Cocktail attire is optional. To purchase tickets please visit: www.miamisci.org/atmiasci. All proceeds directly benefit the Miami Science Museum and its programs. To follow the group, find the Patrons on Facebook under MiaSci Young Patrons.
