With Miami Fashion Week right around the corner, SocialMiami looks at three Miami designers participating in the event.
Julian Chang
Julian Chang from Lima, Peru arrived to Florida at the age of 17. After attending college at Miami International University of Art & Design he created a small evening collection known as “Julian Chang.” In 2003, Chang opened his first showroom in Miami. In 2008, he launched his contemporary women’s collection selling to more than 200 boutiques across the United States. Chang is known for mixing timeless fashion into an individual’s closet. His style is glamorous and he works to provide his customers with sophistication and confidence.
Petit Pois by Viviana G
Educated at the Louvre Museum, Parsons School in Paris and Parsons School of Design in New York, Venezuelan native Viviana Gabeiras is an international fashion designer and creator of the brand, Petit Pois. She launched the collection launched 10 years ago after seeing how successful the line Sweet Pea had done. Peit Pois is a brand distinguished by its signature mesh and original designs. Her designs display a wide variety of patterns and tie dye’s. In 2007, Viviana won the CILA Award for “Best Coordinate Moderate” in New York City. She designs her quality mesh collections from her Miami residence.
POSHE by Camesha Powell – Jamaica
In 2007, Jamaican fashion designer, Camesha Powell debuted her innovative and chic collection- POSHE, in a Caribbean fashion show in Jamaica. She gained inspiration for her collection from Fergie’s song, “Glamorous”, and works to create lines and fabrics that are striking. Powell has been featured in Ocean Style Magazine and She Caribbean Magazine.
