UM Celebrates Brian Dursum for 40 Years of Service

The University of Miami celebrated Brian Dursum, Director Emeritus of the Lowe Art Museum, for four decades of service at a reception at the museum last week. Community and University leaders and museum donors and members the new Director of the Lowe Art Museum, Jill Deupi, for the event. “Dursum’s grasp of and appreciation for Miami’s diversity helped position the Lowe as a cultural resource for art, scholarship, and education for our students and the South Florida community,” said President Donna E. Shalala, of her time working with Dursum. “During Brian’s tenure, the Lowe doubled in physical size, its collection expanded to more than 19,000 works, and its endowment grew exponentially,” noted Dean Bachas. Dursum gave a lighthearted speech, which began by thanking all the guests and by welcoming Deupi to the Lowe.
