The Fairy’s Kiss – World Premiere!

Friday – Sunday, February 10 – 12

Miami City Ballet’s Program III features the world premiere of a major story ballet, The Fairy’s Kiss, by Alexei Ratmansky, now universally regarded as the world’s leading choreographer. The story is by Hans Christian Andersen, the music – an homage to Tchaikovsky – is the most melodious ever composed by Stravinsky. Also on the bill is a new Balanchine acquisition, Walpurgisnacht Ballet, set to Gounod’s passionate Faust music, and containing a bravura ballerina role with two dozen alluring young women in support. Tony-award winner (for An American in Paris) Christopher Wheeldon’s striking Polyphonia, so enthusiastically received in its 2013 company premiere, returns for an encore. Valentine’s Day Gift Idea

Andrea Bocelli in Concert

The Barnacle Under Moonlight Concert: J Street Revival

Five-Course Dinner for Two

Valentine’s Day from 5:30 to 11 p.m.

Intended for you and your sweetheart, this five-course shared plate-styled dinner includes a glass of Cava Rose for both of you. The special Valentine’s Day dinner begins with a Chilled Seafood Plate featuring Shrimp, Snow Crab and Oysters. The second course is Baked New Zealand Mussels and Beef Anticucho. South Motors Jazz Series presents “My Funny Valentine: The Rogers and Hart Songbook” featuring 8-time Grammy Award winner and Manhattan Transfer’s Alan Paul and the Jim Gaisor Trio. Paul began his career at the age of 12 in Broadway’s original cast of Oliver and worked extensively in stage, film and TV. He was cast in the original Broadway production of Grease, creating the roles of Teen Angel and Johnny Casino and, while performing in Grease, formed one of the most iconic and award winning jazz ensembles, Manhattan Transfer. This special concert will showcase the songbook of Richard Rogers and Lorenz Hart who are among the most prolific and renowned composers of music and lyrics for motion pictures and The Great White Way. Valentine’s Milonga

Saturday, February 18 at 8 p.m.

Miami Dade College’s Koubek Center, su casa de cultura, will host a Valentine’s Milonga featuring the Argot Tango Quintet as part of its starlit social dance series, the Little Havana Social Club. The mansion and gardens provide a perfect backdrop for romance, and the band, a perfect soundtrack. Composed of renowned musicians from Argentina and Uruguay, the Argot Tango Quintet boasts a repertoire that spans traditional to modern, Gardel to Piazzolla, classics to original arrangements. The group is led by the legendary bandoneon player, Miguel Arrabal, who worked on Broadway under the direction of Astor Piazzola. The Little Havana Social Club is a series dedicated to celebrating Latin American heritage through music and dance. The events promote community and engagement—from the dance floor to the domino tables—each evening featuring vibrant live bands, pre-concert dance lessons, and local vendors. Situated in the lush gardens of the historic Koubek Center mansion, the performances are preceded by a complimentary dance lessons and followed by a DJ set.
