ARTURO SANDOVAL PERFORMS AT FAIRCHILD’S VALENTINE DAY CONCERT
February 14 at 7 p.m.

Jazz has often been lauded as the music of love so immerse yourself in the romantic sounds of jazz by the legendary musician Arturo Sandoval amidst a lush tropical landscape at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. Originally from Cuba, Sandoval is a Grammy Award-winning musician and composer who is a renowned trumpet player and often incorporates Latin influences into traditional jazz. ALHAMBRA STRING QUARTET WITH PIANIST MIA VASSILEV
February 14 at 7:30 p.m.

Pianist Mia Vassilev will join the Alhambra String Quartet for an evening of favorite classical excerpts and multicultural popular pieces, with a romantic bent for you and your valentine to enjoy. Selected works include quartets and quintets by Schumann, Dvorak, Haydn and Mozart, some lively tangos, and popular songs by the Beatles and Elvis. HILARY HAHN AT THE ARSHT CENTER
February 14 at 8 p.m.

Grammy-winning violinist Hilary Hahn’s probing interpretations and technical brilliance have made her one of the most sought-after artists of our time. Although only 32 years old, her international fame and recognition, including two Grammy Awards and the 2008 Classic FM / Gramophone Artist of the Year – are testaments to her talent and drive. Her program will include, Bach’s Chaconne, Fauré’s Sonata No. 1, Corelli’s Sonata No. 4 in F Major, as well as a selection of her famed In 27 Pieces: the Hilary Hahn Encores, a series of short-form compositions for violin created by 27 different composers which Hahn herself commissioned. Hahn’s performance is part of the Knight Masterworks Series which offers a free pre-concert talk at 7 p.m. in the Peacock Education Center at Knight Concert Hall.
