24th Annual “Women Who Make a Difference” Luncheon
“Afternoon in Amalfi, Presented by Elemis

Junior League of Miami hosted an “Afternoon in Amalfi, Presented by Elemis” for the 24th Annual Women Who Make a Difference luncheon on Saturday, April 12 at the Coral Gables Country Club. The event honored four incredible women: Amanda Altman, Mayor Daniella Cava Levine, Tracy Wilson Mourning, and Karen Throckmorton. These four women are pillars of the Miami community, breaking barriers, while promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving Miami communities.
Co-chairs Lindsay Kerdyk and Tonya Merrem transported 325 guests to the Amalfi Coast. Attendees delighted in a perfect Italian summer meal of caprese, risotto, and fish, and then had gelato, espresso, and lemon cake set to the sounds of live Italian musicians. The event was emceed by Miriam Tapia, community reporter for NBC6 and Telemundo 51.
President Ava Habif announced that the late Mark Trowbridge would be made a Community Advisory Board Member Emeritus. The League also announced the recipients of scholarships for high school seniors entering college.
This sold-out event was presented by global British skincare brand, Elemis. Elemis gifted each guest a collection of skincare bestsellers and a full size candle. During the luncheon, guests had the opportunity to bid on luxurious silent auction items including 2 first class Delta tickets, a 2-night stay at the W South Beach, a 2-night stay at the Kimpton Surfcomber, a 2-night stay at the Loews Miami Beach, a private shopping and styling experience at Alice + Olivia, and gift certificates to restaurants, spas, and gyms across Miami, amongst many other items. Raffle prizes included a deluxe package of skincare products from Elemis and a stunning white gold and diamond necklace from Jae’s Jewelers. New this year were the exclusive “Mystery Bags” available for purchase containing products from Elemis, Kerastase, Miami Chain & Co., Place of Aroma, and Simply Bails.
Proceeds from the record-breaking luncheon exceeded $158,000 and will support programming throughout Miami. The League’s flagship program is Inn Transition, a gated-community for survivors of domestic violence with children. This luncheon also supports scholarships for those women to resume their education.
