Alain Godon
French Pop Artist on Display at godonAmerica
Welcome to The World of Alain Godon –the world of a French pop artist whose signature style portrays the sites and spirit of various cities, along with a fusion of expressive lines, vivid colors and humor. Godon is known for portraying cities like a native and has painted sites in Paris, New York City, Amsterdam and Le Touquet. Godon will add Miami to his exclusive list of cities with an opening reception of The World of Alain Godon on Thursday, April 8 from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.
The renowned painter and sculptor will attend the reception and sign posters while in town preparing the Miami collection of oil paintings expected to hit the market in 2011. The gallery will feature works by Godon, including the innovative artistic technique he created – godonBildoReliefos.
Translated from Esperanto, godonBildoReliefos means three dimensional images and can be described as a mixture of classic oil form on canvas combined with 21st century digital technology. The original oil painting is transformed by the artist to become a unique digital work of art as a high-resolution single print that is mounted on aluminum and hand-signed by the painter.
Unwilling to categorize his own artwork into any genre, Godon is able to paint, sculpt and photograph as his moods dictates. Alain Godon “de-constructs” each element of the original oil painting and “re-constructs” by adding shadows and shades for a three dimensional effect, making each artwork an
original edition by carrying its own color nuances. This inventive technique was first introduced to the public by Godon in 2009 at the “Pavillon des Arts et du Design“in Paris, now Alain Godon brings his godonBildoReliefos to Miami.
Godon began his career painting chalk art on sidewalks outside of The Louvre and now the talented artist was recently invited to exhibit inside the museum’s hallowed walls. Along with a reputation for selling works before the paint has dried and a devoted legion of fans, Alain Godon is also the subject of an entire book declaring him one of the best painters of his generation by Christian Boeringer, former Commercial Director of the Louvre Museum, and Patrice Deparpe, Director of the Museum of Le Touquet.
