Bee Green Day With Honey Shine Mentoring Program
A group of 73 Honey Bugs and 43 volunteers from the Honey Shine Mentoring Program set out for a day of helping to beautify a stretch of beach for “Bee” Green Day in partnership with the Environmental Coalition of Miami Beach (ECOMB), Boucher Brothers, and Honey Shine member Alexa Lowe. The girls learned about recycling and preserving our ecosystem before forming teams to clean the beach and pick up debris. Afterwards they all joined in for some fun in the sun playing volleyball and other games, and they got a quick lesson from the Miami Beach Ocean Beach Patrol about how to read beach warning flags and how to spot rip currents before getting in the water. Honey Shine is a program of Alonzo Mourning Charities, providing support and opportunities for girls aged 8 to 18.
