Dining Room - The Last Emperor

Designer Statement: “Several years ago, I set out on a trip to China to study Feng Shui, which instilled in me a profound fascination with Chinese history and culture. Just having completed the design for a project in Shanghai, along with entertaining the recurring fantasy of creating a room in all red, forged the choice of our inspirational film, The Last Emperor. The motif is the Forbidden City, and the imperial color Red as the protagonist, used almost to excess, in a juxtaposition of textures meant to evoke the grandeur of the Chinese court. The intention was to create a distilled, pared down interpretation—an homage to a bygone era.
