Miami’s leading philanthropists and community leaders gathered at Joe’s Stone Crab for the second annual HistoryMiami Icons Luncheon, a signature fundraising event celebrating those who have shaped the city’s legacy. This year’s History Icon Award honorees: the Wolfson family, the Ansin family, the Orange Bowl Committee, Dr. Paul S. George, and Congresswoman Carrie P. Meek (In Memoriam) were recognized with the museum’s highest honor for their enduring contributions to the Miami community. The awards honor trailblazers, visionaries, and changemakers whose impact has left an indelible mark on Miami’s past while continuing to shape its future.
Past honorees, including members of the Abess family, were in attendance alongside Miami Dade College President Madeline Pumariega, HistoryMiami’s Chairman of the Board Michael Gold and former board chairman and philanthropists John Shubin and Michael Weiser. The luncheon was emceed by Laurie Jennings, with Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava presenting proclamations to each honoree. Proceeds from the event benefit HistoryMiami Museum, a Smithsonian Affiliate and Miami’s oldest continuously operating cultural institution.
