National Philanthropy Day Luncheon Honors Swanee and Paul DiMare

The DiMares will be presented with AFP's Lifetime Achievement Award

The Association of Fundraising Professionals Miami will present its prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award to Swanee and Paul DiMare at the National Philanthropy Day Luncheon on November 12 at Jungle Island.

This very special award, bestowed at the 30th anniversary of National Philanthropy Day, will pay tribute to the DiMares, who have been community-wide inspirational philanthropists for decades.

Paul J. DiMare is a member of the University of Miami Board of Trustees, and the couple served as vice chairs of the University’s Momentum2 Campaign. Swanee has been dedicated to a wide range of community organizations including Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden and the American Red Cross. She serves on the national board of Women of Tomorrow, as well as on the boards of the Miami City Ballet and the Adrienne Arsht Center Foundation. Her community involvement began as a ten-year member of the Delta Airlines management team where she inspired employees to volunteer for local charities.

Paul is president of DiMare Brothers, Inc. and DiMare Homestead Inc., an organization of growers, packers, and shippers of whole fresh fruits and vegetables. An active community leader, he is chairman of Florida Farmers Inc., a trustee of the Jackson Memorial Foundation, and he serves as a director of the Red Cross of South Florida, the Frost Museum of Science, Camillus House, and The Bouniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis, among others.

National Philanthropy Day 2015, presented by Florida International University, will mark AFP Miami’s 30th anniversary of National Philanthropy Day, and event that was started by the Miami chapter and is now celebrated around the world. Partnering with the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, The Miami Foundation and the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning, AFP Miami will recognize and honor the contributions local individuals and businesses have made to our community and to our world.
