People & Their Pets
Margaret Lake
Margaret Lake is the Executive Director of the Olympia Theater at the Gusman Center for the Performing Arts located on Flagler Street. She is a native of Salt Lake City in Utah, and currently a pioneer of the urban life; living and working in Downtown Miami with her dog, Luna, and two cats Theo and Vinchenza.
If you were a dog, which breed would you be and why? A Golden Retriever because I would love to chase a tennis ball in to the ocean all day, every day. I would also be a surfing dog.
If you were a cat, which breed would you be and why? Dios Meow. I would be a Chausie, is a hybrid of the domestic cat and the Jungle Cat. Despite their wild appearance, they are domestic and love air conditioning. Purrrrrfectly suited for Miami’s wild side-need I say more?
If your cat Vinchenza could talk, what would her first sentence be? Humans are ridiculous — is a litter box really the most civilized option?
What do you think your cats do when you’re not home? They eat catnip and sell Luna’s toys on eBAY.
About Paws 4 You Rescue
Paws 4 You Rescue is a Miami-based non-profit 501(c)3, all volunteer, donor-subsidized animal rescue organization. Its top priority is to save animals from euthanasia at Miami-Dade Animal Services.
Rescued animals vary from being sick, injured, homeless and surrendered to simply lost. All animals are sterilized, vaccinated and ID micro-chipped to prevent future loss. Some require major surgery from a specialist to repair broken limbs while others may need additional rehabilitation time and specific medical care – ranging from respiratory illnesses and skin infections to cherry eyes and heartworm treatments.
Paws 4 You offers programs for adoption, fostering and senior citizens. Paws 4 You supports its mission by hosting numerous fundraising events throughout the year and through community donations.
