Social Snapshot: Jolie Balido
The co-CEO of NewStar Media speaks to us in her own words
Jolie Balido is the co-CEO of NewStar Media, a company she founded with business partner and longtime friend Tina van der Ven. The company helps corporate and individual clients achieve their business goals, benefiting heavily from Balido’s 20-plus years in corporate strategy, branding, marketing, public relations, crisis management, reputation management, and social media.
Balido began her career as a staff writer for The Miami Herald, where she wrote hundreds of breaking news pieces and feature articles. She later applied her newsroom experience to help clients tell their stories, communicate with their stakeholders and position themselves for success. The company Balido established in 2008, Roar Media, grew to be recognized as South Florida’s third-largest by revenue and number of employees, and as one of the top 50 fastest-growing private companies in Florida.
Baldio As part of her lifetime commitment to giving back to the community donates her time, talents and treasure to an array of nonprofits including Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami, Kristi House, Parkinson’s Foundation, Make-a-Wish Foundation, Voices For Children, and City Year Miami. The longtime Coral Gables resident also served on the City of Coral Gables Planning and Zoning Advisory Board, on the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce’s Governing Board and Real Estate and Marketing Committees, and on the Governing Board and Marketing Committee of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami. She lives in Coral Gables with her children: Julianna, age 8 and Jett, age 5.
