Social Snapshot: Lisa Mendelson
The WPBT South Florida board member speaks to us in her own words
Lisa Mendelson (née Hellinger) was raised in Miami from the age of six-years-old. A graduate of Miami-Palmetto High School, she received her AB degree from Tulane University’s A.B. Freeman School of Business. Mendelson has been devoted to South Florida nonprofit support, having served as director of special events for Hope Center for the Developmentally Disabled and director of marketing for the American Heart Association of South Florida. She is a member of the board of directors and the executive committee of the board of United Way of Miami-Dade. Mendelson also serves as the co-chairperson of United Way’s Center for Excellence in Early Education, and was Parents Association president of her children’s elementary school. Mendelson currently, and for the past seven years, has been serving on the local board of Teach For America. She is also a board member of IMPAC Fund. Most recently, she has joined the board of WPBT South Florida. Mendelson and her husband Victor Mendelson prioritize improving education both locally and nationally, as well as making Miami-Dade a better place. Together, they are the very proud parents of Alexander, Lindsey and Nicole.
