VIDEO: From the Sidecar
Downtown murals add a fresh face
Brad Knoefler is at it again with another journey through downtown Miami while speaking to his trusted companion, Saint Jerome, who documents Brad from the sidecar of his restored 1957 BMW motorcycle.
In this latest adventure, Brad looks at the freshly painted murals that were done during Art Basel 2012. The pieces have brought fresh faces to some downtown buildings, and Brad has the scoop like only a downtown insider can.
The cost of the murals was sponsored by different entities including Chris MacLeod, owner of the Corner Bar on North Miami Avenue and 11th street, and Tony Cho from Metro 1.
The Ballerinas is a wonderful piece that is on the backside of a building owned by the Miami World Center Group, headed by Nitin Motwani. The structure is the new home of The Hive, an international entrepreneurial project headed by Dr. Susan Amat, executive director of the Launch Pad at the University of Miami.
Peace and Justice is another mural we see from the sidecar. The bold piece was done by famed artist Shepard Fairey.
Brad’s journey ends at the Corner Bar when he runs into Barbi Garcia from B Sustainable Consulting and promptly kicks his trusted cohort, Saint Jerome, out of the sidecar to make room for Barbi before they head off to the Reggae festival at Grand Central Park.
