More than 325 wannabe chefs gathered to create California-cool fusion cuisine and enjoy savory spirits at the fourth annual Pineapple Sauté and Sip Interactive Dinner, led by master chef Jacques Van Staden of Celebrity Cruises and hosted by Baptist Health Breast Center. The event, held at the Ritz-Carlton Coconut Grove, raised funds to benefit Baptist Health Breast Center’s staffing of CareCoaches, who provide compassionate, ongoing support and individualized attention to patients undergoing diagnostic testing and/or treatment for breast cancer.

The dinner honored Andrea Ivory, CNN Hero and founder of the Florida Breast Health Initiative – now Women’s Breast Health Initiative – which has knocked on the door of more than 35,000 homes to offer breast health awareness and free screenings to uninsured and underserved women of South Florida. “Ms. Ivory’s contributions to the local and international breast cancer community – from inspiring women with breast cancer to lobbying for breast cancer research and care – are immeasurable, and tonight we are privileged to honor her,” said Yvonne Diaz, vice president of Baptist Outpatient Services.

The evening’s emcee was CBS4 anchor Cynthia Demos, and Therese G. Klotz and Dan Hanrahan, president and chief executive officer of Celebrity Cruises, served as Philanthropic Chair and Chair Emeritus, respectively. Major sponsors were Bloomingdale’s at the Falls, Celebrity Cruises, Radiology Associates of South Florida, Siemens Med-Lab, 22 Core Construction, Mercedes-Benz of Coral Gables and Cutler Bay, and CBS4. Other sponsors included Greenberg Traurig, Urgent Care Physicians of South Florida, Criticare Clinics, Inc., Robert DerHagopian, M.D., Tri-City Electric, Elizabeth Arden, Comprehensive Pathology Associates, Merrill Lynch-Latin America Wealth Management, Naya Architects, TownCare Dental, and Trane.
