Foodie Find: Open Kitchen

Open Kitchen in Bay Harbor

Chefs Ines Chattas and Sandra Stefani

Great food can often be found in small, chef-owned and operated restaurants. Open Kitchen, the 14-seat eatery in Bay Harbor Islands, is just such an establishment.

A true Foodie Find, Open Kitchen is owned and operated by chefs Ines Chattas (former GM of Icebox in Sobe) and Sandra Stefani (former owner of Casa Toscana).

The food is fresh and simple. Our Foodie Find is the turkey meatloaf. The portion size is healthy, perfect for lunch, and topped with a chunky tomato sauce. The homemade mashed potatoes are creamy, yet chunky with bits of skin throughout – delish.

Other great dishes include: the sweet and sour Italian eggplant dip, chicken liver mousse, pink lentil hummus and an antipasto sampler, an array of tempting salads, homemade soups, creative sandwiches and wraps and wonderful entrees, including daily specials.

The homemade minty lemonade and coconut cake made with dulce de leche are additional finds that deserve special recognition.

Open Kitchen is also home to cooking classes conducted by Chattas and Stefani. Space is limited to 10 people. Call 305-865-0090 for information.

Open Kitchen is open Monday to Friday from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm and is located at 1071 95th Street.
