West Encounters East Travels to Japan
Recently, executive producer Stella Holmes and producer Linda Corley traveled with their production team to Japan for the second leg of field production of the upcoming one-hour documentary West Encounters East: The Japanese Brazilians, which explores the artistic expressions of Brazilian artists of Japanese descent.
The team traveled for more than 10 days to various cities and towns across Japan, covering the local contemporary art scene, meeting living legends in the Japanese art world, and visiting the country’s top museums and art galleries, such as the Tokyo Gallery, the city’s oldest gallery dedicated to contemporary art.
Swim Week Sample Sale
Salon Allure, a four-day boutique tradeshow featuring more than 70 of the world’s most exclusive brands in swim, resort, and now accessories, marks its third anniversary by inviting the public to its first-ever designer sample sale fundraiser.
One-hundred percent of net proceeds for the event will benefit Salon Allure’s charity of choice: Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation (MCH Foundation).
Chaired by Norma Jean Abraham, and co-chairs Tracy Wilson Mourning and Lisa Pliner, and style blogger Ginger Harris of Electric Blogarella, attendees will have access to the same luxury swim and resort wear worn by Hollywood A-listers Fergie and Rihanna, all at discounts of up to 50 percent off.
On Thursday, July 19th from 9 p.m. to midnight, Style Saves will host an exclusive event on the opening night of Swim Week.
More than 400 of Miami’s people will gather to support Style Save’s mission to “build confidence through clothes and give a fresh start through fashion.”
Style Saves was founded by stylist Rachael Russell who is excited to bump the event up a notch following last year’s success. “I wanted to do something relevant to my industry while giving back, “she said. “This year we are adding an additional fashion show and doubling the capacity. With a runway over the Soho Beach House pool, similar to what Saks Bal Harbour did with Rag & Bone but facing the opposite direction, there is going to be a big wow factor.”
