Foodie Find: KLIMA
Simple and elegant dining on Miami Beach
KLIMA Miami, the latest addition to the heart of the historic district, offers a unique menu with a blend of contemporary and international cuisine inspired by Barcelona. The 70-seat restaurant has indoor and outdoor patio seating. (see below.)
Klima’s concept, according to founders Pablo Fernández-Valdés and Yago Giner, reflects the perfect marriage between their own Spanish heritage and the rich cultural diversity that South Florida attracts. Executive Chef David “Rusti” Rustarazo combines the very best in local ingredients and brings a highly seasoned expertise in Mediterranean and Catalan cuisine to the table.
The outdoor patio has an unobstructed view of the indoor dining space with its inviting lounge area that offers relaxing chairs and built-in sofas for enjoying a happy hour cocktail or after-dinner drink. Modern day artwork is displayed throughout the restaurant, an interesting backdrop for the Barcelona-imported dining tables strategically placed on colorful rugs atop varnished oak floors, giving the main dining area a cozy and homey vibe.
The generous portion of Fennel, Burrata, Kalamata and Dried Tomatoes ($24), perfectly dressed with fine olive oil, is perfect for sharing. Fabulous entrees include Josper Pork Ribs (off the bone) with Fingerling Potatoes, Garlic and Shallots ($38) – incredibly tasty – and Veal Stuffed Paccheri, Porto and Parmesan ($38), a pasta, but not in the everyday sense that is expected. Two pasta packets filled with deliciously sauced “veal cheeks” are divine.
Dessert and coffee should finish the evening. Try the luscious lemon tart with the perfect “sweet vs. tart” ratio, a wonderful complement for a pork and veal main courses.
Service was attentive and friendly; food taste and presentation great; and ambiance mellow and congenial. Having dinner at Klima is like dining at the home of a very sophisticated and elegant friend.
Located at 210 23rd Street, adjacent to Collins Avenue in Miami Beach, KLIMA is open for daily dinner reservations through Open Table or by calling 786-453-2779 or emailing Reservations@KlimaMmiami.com.
