Foodie Find: South Beach Wine & Food Festival
No other city in the world is filled with more culinary treasures – we’re talking about both tasty dishes and the chefs who created them – than Miami Beach during the Wine & Food Festival. This year, presented by industry giants The Food Network and FOOD & WINE magazine, the four-day event that’s cooked up to raise money for Florida International University’s Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management was packed with exclusive VIP Dinners hosted by the likes of Michael Mina, late night parties featuring Sammy Hagar, and open-air, beach side soirees, such as Moët Hennessy’s The Q.
We tasted a lot but savored offerings from two local finds. Meat Market from Miami Beach seared up for us chipotle-glazed, slow roasted rib eye from Creekstone Farms (right) and served it with achiote French toast, pickled fresno chili and wild mushroom salad. We can always — thank God — count on Steve Haas, owner of City Hall the Restaurant, to not only show up but also shine on the final day, personally handing out to adoring foodies this season his take on truffle eggs with bacon tucked into a crunchy pastry shell (below).
