Journey to Mutum: a Cultural Encounter
Miami Theater Center honors Yawanawá tribe
Miami Theater Center honored the Yawanawá Brazilian tribe by hosting a weekend of celebratory experiences titled Journey to Mutum: a Cultural Encounter with the Yawanawá of the Brazilian Amazon. The indigenous tribe traveled by airplane, car and canoe to share their culture with friends and supporters of Miami Theater Center. They performed here in the United States as a group for the first time. The weekend consisted of two matinee performances and a MainStage ceremony performance. as well as a Community Dinner and Family Day festivities.
